Russell
Houston likes to apply his uncommon talent to an equally uncommon
subject—cowboy golf Russell finds inspiration for his humorous series
from archival photos as woll as tho splendid writings of Dick Wick
Hall, Each of Russell’s paintings pokes fun at the lighter side of
cowboy recreation, and he’s become quite successful doing just that,
Shortly offer graduating from the Art Canter College of Design in
Pasadena, California, Russell returned to his native Arizona and
continued his career as an illustrator—but concentrated on becoming a
western artist. He developed a successful niche for his cowboy golf
series, and since has been featured in several national art magazines
and received numerous awards thanks to his whimsical and often
hilarious pieces. |
