Colonel Jeff Cooper
Colonel Cooper, was born in 1920 in Los Angeles, California and has
experienced in his lifetime things that most of us only dream of. he is
an author lecturer, trainer, consultant and small arms designer. He has
a B.A. in Political Science from Stanford University, a Masters in
History from and is a retired Lieutenant Colonel United States Marine
Corps, where he served on board the USS Pennsylvania. He is the founder
of the Gunsite Academy where he has taught defensive pistoicraft. He is
the Founder, president and Lifetime Honorary Chairman of the
International Practical Shooting Confederation. has been a member of
the National Rifle Association Board of Directors since 1985.was He
elected to the National Rifle Association Executive Council in 2002. He
has been a lifetime big game hunter on five continents. Co designer of
the modem technique of the pistol. He was the originator of the modem
Scout Rifle concept. He was. awarded the Outstanding American Hand
gunner in 1995, he was selected the Soldier of Fortune's Shootist of
the Century in 2000, and was given the St. Gabriel Possenti Society
medal in 2001. He was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the
Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in 2002. Colonel
Cooper is the Editor at large and columnist of Guns and Ammo magazine
since the magazine started in 1958. Last but not least he is the author
of numerous books including "Fireworks To Ride", "Shoot Straight
and Speak the Truth", "Another Country", "Principles of the Personal
Defense", "Gargantuan Gunsite Gossip I and II", "The Art of the Rifle"
and "Jeff Cooper’s Commentaries".
